About

I make things because I come from a long line of do-it-yourselfers.  My family is from the Appalachian mountains, which pretty much means our family motto is “do it yourself or do without.”  My mother, Lula Bell, dug out her own basement, builds cabinets, upholsters furniture, casts rings, sews clothes, canes furniture, makes baskets, cans food . . . I really can’t think of anything my mother hasn’t either fixed or made.  When you are raised by someone who can really “make anything” it never really occurs to you that something is impossible . . .
