Sail-a-bration: A Nautical Birthday Party

So the Personal Shopper and I hosted a nautical inspired birthday for our brother. We only had a couple of weeks and a very small budget, but I think things went off reasonable well, with lots of good food and great fellowship. And now on my contribution . . .

Here is the sign on the door when the guest first entered. Personal Shopper named “the party ship.”

Here is the birthday banner. It spells out Happy on the first one and Birthday on the second. Hopefully I will be able to share these on the blog latter. I designed them using Publisher. I used a hole punch and jute rope to string them. They were hung using paper clips on the air vent. Perfect.

And here is the special table reserved for the man of honor.

The main food table, waiting for wonderful assortment of pot-luck to arrive. We used the lighthouses here. And do you notice what is at the lower left holding the cutlery? That’s right.

Our newly painted seashell that the personal shopper picked up that the longest yard sale. Looks tons better doesn’t it!

And here is our desert table decorated with the newly painted fish. Some of the fish were placed on upside down bamboo bowls for height. We also used a décor fishing net, some coral that had been left over a thrifted lamp in a tall clear vase for height. Also, as a thank you to the guest, lifesavers in a fish bowl.

Here is how the main tables were decorated. All of these items were either things that the personal shopper had found at the yard sale, things left over from a previous party or wedding. The only things that were purchased new were the tablecloths, captains hat, and lifesavers. Pretty good on our part.

And here is the piece de resistance! Another custom cake from the personal shopper.
